Well, I know I haven't posted much in the past couple years. I've gotten way to picky about my artwork as of late. But at the same time, I've been doing a lot of experimenting in DAZ to produce certain effects that would like to utilize.
Right now I'm working on how to create a very detail intensive scene without destroying my computer in the render. Downside to this, though, is I can't use the engine of DAZ 4.0. I have found the interface very bulky and confusing. This may be from using the original interface for so many years that I found it easier.
I've finally gotten into experimenting with DForm a bit. Interesting addon if you ask me (even though it come standard now).
A look into how I experiment:
For my shadowing (see tutorial created here) I did a lot of experimenting with the surfaces and lighting scenarios. Even then, that tutorial is just the basics. I'm still working on situational lighting and even using real shadows to calculate how much light is actually still present in any shadowed environment through photos and color checks (usually best with white background with a shadow cast on it.) I'll even throw bumpmapping into this since that has a lot to do with the shadowing ridges and detailed effects on a truly flat surface.
With using pwEffect, I've actually made changes with how I run my "ghosts". I try to keep as much detail of the original person as much as possible. I really dislike the one color ghostly effect; takes away from the character itself from my standpoint. That is my current pet project with my experimenting in DAZ; working with pwEffect and utilizing it to actually make stuff look how I want it to look in the long run.
And as I mentioned before, I've been playing around with DForm a bit. Mostly using a plane primative and experimenting on how it really works.
I'm actually considering doing a before and after kind of image right now where I show a render of what I started with, and show it as what I can do and work with now. Put into perspective how much I've developed my skills in the use of DAZ and possibly see where I can digress or improve upon.
Well, nothing more to add for now.
